Polo, a Persian sport. / چوگان، ورزشی ایرانی
Polo is a team sport played on horseback in which the objective is to score goals against an opposing team. Players score by driving a small white plastic or wooden ball into the opposing team's goal using a long-handled mallet. The traditional sport of polo is played at speed on a large grass field up to 300 yards long by 160 yards wide, and each polo team consists of four riders and their mounts.
Certainly the earliest records of polo are Median (an ancient Iranian people)

چوگان از ورزشهای کهن ایرانی است که امروزه به ورزشی جهانی تبدیل شده است. این رشته به دلیل رواج در میان پادشاهان و بزرگان به بازی شاهان معروف است. نام چوگان از نام چوبی که در آن استفاده می‌شود برگرفته شده‌است. این بازی در ابتدا عنوانی نظامی و جنگی داشت و سوارکاران ایرانی در آن استعداد اسب‌های جنگی خود را به نمایش می‌گذاشتند.
امروزه بیش از ۷۷ کشور مسابقات و برنامه‌های ویژهٔ چوگان برگزار می کنند. چوگان همچنین از جمله ورزش‌هایی است که از سال ۱۹۰۰  تا سال ۱۹۳۹ به عنوان یک ورزش درمسابقات جهانی المپیک بازی شده و هم اکنون نیز از سوی کمیته بین‌المللی المپیک به عنوان یکی از ورزش‌های جهانی شناخته شده است اما این ورزش در زادگاه خود ایران چندان مورد اقبال عمومی نیست.

جلال‌الدین محمد بلخی معروف به مولوی و مولانا و رومی
از مشهورترین شاعران ایرانی‌تبار پارسی‌گوی است . نام کامل وی «محمد ابن محمد ابن حسین حسینی خطیبی بکری بلخی» بوده و در دوران حیات به القاب «جلال‌الدین»، «خداوندگار» و «مولانا خداوندگار» نامیده می‌شده‌است. در قرن‌های بعد (قرن ۹) القاب «مولوی»، «مولانا»، «مولوی رومی» و «ملای رومی» برای وی به کار رفته‌است و از برخی از اشعارش تخلص او را «خاموش» و «خَموش» و «خامُش» دانسته‌اند. زبان مادری وی پارسی بوده است.
آثار مولانا به علاوه مناطق فارسی زبان، تاثیر فراوانی در هند و پاکستان و ترکیه و آسیای میانه گذاشته است. آثار مولانا تأثیر فراوانی روی ادبیات و فرهنگ ترکی نیز داشته‌است. دلیل این امر این است که اکثر جانشینان مولوی در طریقهٔ تصوف مربوط به او از ناحیهٔ قونیه بودند و آرامگاه وی نیز در قونیه است

Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi and more popularly in the English-speaking world simply as Rumi (30 September 1207 – 17 December 1273), was a 13th-century Persian poet, jurist, theologian, and Sufi mystic. Iranians, Turks, Afghans, Tajiks, and other Central Asian Muslims as well as the Muslims of South Asia have greatly appreciated his spiritual legacy in the past seven centuries. Rumi's importance is considered to transcend national and ethnic borders. His poems have been widely translated into many of the world's languages and transposed into various formats. In 2007, he was described as the "most popular poet in America." since UNESCO declared 2007 as the international year of Rumi.

Rumi's works are written in Persian and his Mathnawi remains one of the purest literary glories of Persia,and one of the crowning glories of the Persian language. His original works are widely read today in their original language across the Persian-speaking world (Iran, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and parts of Persian speaking Central Asia). Translations of his works are very popular in other countries. His poetry has influenced Persian literature as well as Urdu, Punjabi, Turkish and some other Iranian, Turkic and Indic languages written in Perso-Arabic script e.g. Pashto, Ottoman Turkish, Chagatai and Sindhi.

زلزله ای به مقدار 6.1 ریشتر روز سه شنبه 20 ام فروردین ماه در ساعت 16:22 بوشهر و شهر های اطراف را لرزاند. در این زلزله 37 نفر کشته و 850 نفر مجروح شدند. / An earthquake occurred in Bushehr province of Iran, in 9 Apr. 2013. 37 people killed and 850 people are injured yet.
